What are you longing for?

Most people know the feeling of longing. It’s like an eager hopefulness. Like one person I know in particular (me), who longs for sushi. Or others, who really want chocolate or pizza. Now all these things are nice, but I’m not talking about that longing.

Of course, we do see it every day, like craving foods. That longing, empty feeling inside we all experience at one point. Where life seemed not fulfilled! It can be frustrating but there is an answer. There is a spot in each of our hearts that is empty.

So empty, it’s uncomfortable. So, like any logical person we try to fill it up. We fill it up with what we are comfortable with. We fill it with loved ones, money, objects, our image  and many other idols. They seemed wonderful at first but  there is something unsatisfactory to this situation.

We-still-feel-empty! So we try other things until it seems to become chaotic and happiness in all can’t be found. Life becomes almost hopeless. Even after playing video games you still feel this uneasiness as if there is something missing. That is unless you have Jesus.

In Psalms chapter 103, verses 4 and 5 it says, “Who [God] redeems your life from the pit and crowns you with love and compassion. Who satisfies your desires with good things.”  So, we can trust God to fill the emptiness that we feel. If we look to him, and ask him he will show us his love for us. What he is doing in our lives, we can be so thankful we have such a wonderful God!

In Psalm 107, verse 9 says, “For he satisfies the thirsty and fills the hungry with good things.” So we can trust in God, to fulfill us!

What do we do?

Meetings:

  • We meet every other Friday night for fellowship and fun.
  • Coffee Talk (Q and A), both youth and adults can come and ask any question they want about life and sermons. This is particularly focused as a survey of western ideas starting with the Early Greeks to modern times.
  • Literature for fun, for those interested we are doing reading the 50 most influential books of western civilization through the lens of Christ.
  • Sunday School, a knowledge of the Bible and our theology
  • Karate, free lessons (with no strange teachings).  The focus is on exercise and being strong in body along with mind and soul.
  • Events, we go to concerts, missions, theme parks. We also put on talent shows and dinners for the congregation.
